Message from the President
Under our medium-term management plan “ICHIGAN2024,” which ends in 2024, our vision is to “continue to create new value as a business creating company that transcends the boundaries of an agency and trading company,” and the entire group is working together to achieve this goal.
I am committed to working together with all Group employees to realize this vision, and beyond that, as a 100-year company, we will strive to realize a sustainable society that is “environmentally friendly, safe, and secure”. In addition, as a company that supports the realization of a society that continues to develop in a green manner (green lifestyle, green consumption, green production, and green supply chain), we will work together with all stakeholders to become a company that shares values with those stakeholders.
The world has undergone a fundamental change in values and behavior patterns due to the rapid progress of digitalization and the response to COVID-19. In addition to diversity, our market environment is facing volatility, uncertainty, and ambiguity; changes that cannot be handled by simply extending preconceived notions. We see these new and significant changes not as a crisis but as an opportunity, and we are committed to developing the ability to identify problems in the midst of change and to propose solutions.
To this end, we will firmly pursue the “4-hatsu,” which cannot be accomplished in the pursuit of short-term profits: “unearthing” (hakkutsu) important strategic opportunities, “conceiving” (hasso) new domains that only we can challenge, “initiating” (hatsuan) innovations that visualize the future, and “launching” (hasshin) bold changes that will enhance our corporate value.
In April 2022, we were able to celebrate the 75th anniversary of our founding. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our shareholders, customers, business partners, and all other stakeholders for their strong support and guidance.
We look forward to your continued support.
Katsuyuki Tomizawa
President
